Star s9500 recovery mode

I had one of the Chinese android note s9500 devices delivered for Christmas this year. There seems to be a bug with the stock firmware when enabling the pattern lock screen.

Once enabled the phone rebooted and went into a boot loop. To factory reset the phone you need to enter recovery mode by doing the following:

Remove and reinsert the battery.

Hold down power, volume up and the home button. The phone will turn on and display a picture of an android lying on its back. You then need to press the back button to display the text menu.

Select wipe data/factory reset
Select wipe cache
Select reboot now

The phone will boot normally however may take longer than usual.

Note: the pin lock screen does not seen to be affected by the same bug.

Needrom.com have a newer ROM which looks to have a fix but I have not have a chance to try it yet.
